Tea break
Something different grabs my attention almost every day. I’m inspired by the people I meet, the things I do and the places I visit. Family, friends and colleagues are important to me. What motivates you? My zest for life, HR practices and recruitment trends, my garden and passion for baking all influence how I work. I’ve bundled up some of my thoughts and ideas into a few different collections.
So why not make yourself a drink, download my latest story and think about what you want to change? Go on, let yourself go and think crazy or outrageous. It’s how change happens.

Is it surprising that HR's getting a headache?
Whether you’re thinking about starting a business, changing roles, making a new house your home or creating a garden from scratch, it takes time …
Real life or even more hype?
The controversy of AI in HR and more particularly, Recruitment rambles on. Just this morning, I received an email from …
Time to move on again?
It’s official, my husband doesn’t want to live in a doll’s house. And neither do I although there’s little to do in our new (tiny) home. So, I tend to go around twice, plumping cushions …
Inspired to go big or go home?
A wonderful talk by Olga Polizzi at the end of February inspired me. We were at the Star in Alfriston, East Sussex for a couple of nights away and were excited to …
Don’t give up on your dreams
Great advice from my brother when it seemed that we weren’t meant to move house. Sometimes it’s moving on that’s the brave thing to do and momentarily for us that seemed like staying put.
Motivation, memories and Groucho Marx
Occasionally it’s great to look back and see how far you’ve come. And that’s exactly what I’ve been doing this afternoon.
It’s what I do
Transformation is what I do. The satisfaction when a plan comes together, and things have changed for the better is priceless. Occasionally I come across things…
Enjoyment or survival … what’s your role delivering?
It’s always good to know that there’s some fun in your life, right? A little bit of sunshine to cheer your spirits …
Aldeburgh, Relax, and Repeat
Here’s hoping your extended weekend was all you hoped it would be. Who doesn’t enjoy the second bank holiday of the year? I’m not a fan of chocolate eggs, so temptation doesn’t kick in although …
What a difference 5 years makes
This time five years ago I was creating content for my (about to be published) website. Here I am five years and 125+ blog stories later investing in a website revamp. Not because the current site isn’t working but like all good outfits and business processes …
Silk flowers on my cakes – no way!
It’s Friday and what better day than a Friday to celebrate the sunshine that’s doing it’s best to squeeze through the clouds like me trying on my new smaller sized jeans earlier …
Objective assessment or reality tv?
With much in the news about keeping healthy, staying interested and living longer I thought I was doing well. With no intention of slowing down or retiring I’m up for finishing a few more of the many projects I’ve started …
A moving experience?
It seems that I need to get something off my chest otherwise it will leak out into every single blog post I write. We’ve been trying to move house since last Summer and …
Please don’t ask me why, ask me how
A few conversations recently about changing careers and side hustles sparked my interest in writing about how to manage a portfolio career at interview. I’ve experienced some raised eyebrows at interview myself …
Job descriptions or fashion sense? You choose ...
I’ve been promoting practical organisation designs and realistic job previews, not to mention job descriptions, which do what they say on the tin for what seems like ever …
Mastering the tightrope
I’m writing this in an effort to help anyone who is reading this piece, knows that they want to regain a healthy approach to food (and, for some, what they drink) yet needs some support …
If I’m honest, I want to do both
I’ve concluded that I want to do more of the things which I love, and for me, that includes working at the things I enjoy …
When a good CV becomes great
Sometime when I’m asked what makes a good written CV, I frequently respond that it’s all about self-interest. And when I’m asked what’s the best time, my response is …
Why is recruitment always the sitting target?
You’d think I’d be used to it after so many years, yet it still makes me flinch when I hear those three little words, “recruitment is broken” …
Happy New Year 2024
Another year (almost) completed and massive encouragement from the little chaps who just welcomed me as I got out of the car – hi, Hev!
