Thank you - let's celebrate

An amazing 15 years of opportunity, new friendships and fresh challenges.  Most of the time, it’s been fun.  On the one or two occasions when it hasn’t, there’s been someone (or something) that’s made me laugh.  I’ve created my fair share of learning opportunities (for myself and for others), recruited incredibly talented people into some great organisations and helped individuals achieve their ambitions.  And I’ve worked with some fabulous people since I launched HW HR Consulting at the end of April, 2004.

Sometimes I’ve surprised myself as I’ve grappled with my understanding of fish filleting and sustainable tuna fishing, not to mention aircraft turnaround times and a 50% improvement on my own Jobs Fair visitor target.  I’ve kissed a few frogs along the way and occasionally needed to eat humble pie, although there’s nothing quite like an April fools project ‘go live’ date to focus the mind, especially when it’s a non-working day.

My consultancy career continues to challenge me.  I’m thrilled that so many new ideas and technologies have been developed to test me.  Recruitment isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and all too often it’s seen as a chore (along with writing job descriptions).  I love that it’s constantly evolving.  It’s this ever-changing talent and resourcing landscape that excites me, although I’m fortunate that some tried and tested solutions still create interest.

“I’ve learned a whole new resourcing vocabulary and I know what it actually means.  You have an amazing knowledge about everything resourcing and were pleased to impart this learning to the team.  Not many consultants would do that, thank you”.  [Just one of many compliments I treasure].

I’ve mentioned before that I am curious, most times courageous and good at conversations – all essential elements of consultancy.  But all good consultants need great clients and colleagues, so it’s my turn to say thank you to everyone who’s reading this who’s helped me achieve another 15 years of success.  Here’s to the next chapter.
